Spa surprise for your significant other for under a $1

Standard

First off, I know that I have been seriousssllyy slacking on this blog. I am sorry about that. I started a new job and it’s been pretty crazy as you can imagine. I have been getting used to a new schedule and hitting the gym a lot more than usual. Therefore, I am exhausted once I get home. All I want to do is watch Teresa and Melissa duke it out on Housewives and lay in bed with my pup. So, naturally, I have a few topics that I would like to talk about for the next few days. I might even be posting more than once a day.

Okay, let’s get to the main topic of this blog!

The Dollar Spa…

I love making the significant other feel good, whether it’s a back scratch, head scratch, foot rub, hand massage, or full body massage. You want to make sure you are doing the best you can to relax them after a hard day at work or just from life in general.

So, all of those things got old and I wanted to kick it up a notch. I remembered my stepfather had found some smooth rocks after Hurricane Katrina and would give my mom hot stone massages once in a while.

I needed to find smooth larger rocks that people use for decoration. The first thing in mind was an arts and crafts store like Michaels or AC Moore. To my luck, I was in the dollar store at the time and I came across a mesh bag of smooth rocks. This was the beginning of what was a great surprise.

What you’ll need:

1 or 2 pack(s) of smooth rocks in assorted sizes

Baby oil and/or lotion

Boiling pot of water

Hand towel

  1. Start by boiling a pot of water on the stove.
  2. Bring to a boil and then add rocks.
  3. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE MICROWAVE
  4. Let them boil to about 3-5 minutes.
  5. While boiling, place a wet hand towel in a large bowl and put it in the microwave for 2 minutes.
  6. Carefully, take out the rocks with a large draining spoon and place inside the hot towel.
  7. Let them cool just a little bit before you put them directly on the skin or else they are in for an unwanted surprise. (I let them sit then when I could touch them I rubbed them in between my hands to get them the perfect temperature)
  8. You can rub them down with the baby oil or lotion while you are waiting for them to cool. Apply it to skin and let it soak in a bit so it is not very slippery. You want to be able to work the muscles not slide across them.
  9. Once the rocks feel warm and not scorching hot, you can then test them out by placing them on their back and asking if it’s too hot. Everyone can endure different heat so always test with the person.
  10. As soon as it feels like a good temperature, massage the rocks into the shoulders, neck, and lower back.
  11. If you have 2 packs of rocks, find 2 of the identical shape a size and use them together in a synchronized motion.
  12. Change out the used rocks for fresh ones and massage for as long as you desire.
  13. Last but not least, take the hot towel and wipe off the oil or lotion while massaging.

Enjoy!

Refresh and Re-energize

Standard

Hey loves

So I don’t know if anyone else has gotten to see the new commercials for the “Starbucks Refreshers”. They are fruit juices and caffeine blended into a low-calorie refreshing drink. Let me tell you that they are amazing and perfect for summer, if you don’t want a heavy coffee drink.

They aren’t super sugary like most energy drinks, and they actually quench your thirst while energizing you for the day.

Honestly, I was feeling a little sluggish and achy after an all day barbecue and I had to meet up in Philadelphia for a Phillies game with one of my best friends from college and this was the best post-day drinking cure I have ever experienced.  I felt 100% after finishing a venti-sized Very Berry Hibiscus
(with whole blackberries)
, and a little drive up to the city.

I have not tried the Cool Lime (with real lime) yet, but my barista said it was her favorite because it tasted like a margarita. I will update the post once I have tried one.

They are also pretty wallet-friendly compared to the speciality coffee served at Starbucks. A venti (20 oz) was only $3.60 (without tax because I was in Delaware).

Just writing about this makes me want to go out and grab one right now.

So try one and let me know what you guys think!

Ultimate Sports Fan Shoes for Women

Standard

So I came across these AMAZING shoes that are bound to get tons of compliments when you are out at the bar looking sexy supporting your favorite team! They are made from HERSTAR which features sexy pumps for virtually every team for the NFL, NBA, and College Football.

Pair it with your favorite teams jersey with a pair of jeans or shorts depending on the weather.

HERSTAR

If you don’t have a jersey yet but don’t want to spend $95.00 on the new Nike Women’s Jerseys. Check out the kids selection, it’s about 20$ cheaper and fits about the same. A kids L will be about a womens S-M. You may have to tie it up in the back to give it a tighter fit, but it looks great when you layer it with a tank top.

NFL Nike
Another way to save $ on jerseys is to look at the previous sponsor Reebok (this is the first year for Nike sponsoring the NFL), they have tons of stuff on sale, they might just not have the updated players. So do you’re homework and make sure to get a franchised player that is still with your team and that will be most likely be with your team for awhile.

NFL Reebok

*Always get replicas, don’t fork out $200 for a real jersey because that player might not be there next year. I learned the hard way when we (Philadelphia Eagles) lost McNabb, Dawkins, and Westbrook.
Yay for football season!

Let’s go Eagles!

Hey loves!

This is my first blog entry so as usual it will be an introduction about myself and what I will be writing about.
Mi nombre es…

Courtney Leigh, I am 25 years old and a recent graduate of Coastal Carolina University. I studied Communication and Journalism with a hopeful direction in Sports Broadcasting.

I love playing sports such as tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball, and football.

I love to watch football, ice hockey, baseball, basketball, and tennis.

Philadelphia Phan for life!

I also enjoy videography, photography, surfing, working out, acting, modeling, dancing, singing, playing guitar, writing, reading, fashion, and cooking.

I have a rescue dog named Marilyn, named after Marilyn Monroe who I am obsessed with. I am an absolute bargain shopper and I don’t believe in paying ridiculous prices for getting something that makes you feel good.

I am an extremely outgoing, caring, charismatic, personable person. I grew up as a tomboy with my dad and my brother outside of Philadelphia, along with two stepbrothers so therefore, I mostly hang with the boys, and I am in tuned with how the male species operates a little bit more than my own fellow females. On the contrary I do have a feminine side so I am not a total butch, hehe.

My family background is originally from the South but I was born up north. So naturally, I believe in southern hospitality with a northern mentality. In a quick summary, I believe in cooking an cleaning for your man and your family, and always being the “hostess with the mostess” but then being an independent diva that doesn’t let anyone walk all over her.
I can confidently say that I am well-rounded individual. Some “haters” have said that I don’t know who I am. I know exactly who I am as a matter of fact. I just have a lot of interests and I’m a big believer into trying everything once, and if I happen to like a lot of things, that’s my prerogative and I’m stickin’ to it.

v e r i t a s . . .

This will be the truth as I see it.

I will be writing about things I find life-changing, funny, and very helpful. My main goal will be to write about health tips, fashion tips, DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, fun events, men, fashion and especially sports insiders to impress the men in your life.  So here we go… hope you follow and you enjoy!
